    Re: Northumbria Central Enforcement Unit

I hate to say this, but this is looking far too much like one of Marston Group's tactics. What the hell do HMCTS think they're doing letting this wunch of bankers use an official logo in this way? Their contract should be cancelled forthwith.

When they got caught doing this in the Devon & Cornwall Police area, Puff, they were using official court telephone numbers on the dodgy letters. There was also a mobile number. D & C Police and HMCTS D & C were not amused.

          Re: Northumbria Central Enforcement Unit

Having read the posts on 'who calls me' that PR kindly posted up it does seem to be more of a scam than Marstons. One person stated that it was for a car fine, when they don't have a car or a driving licence others have checked with the police and they dont have outstanding warrants etc. They are asking for the fines to be paid with a credit card - nice one.... If someone does this and believes that they owe this fine - who are they paying lol. It is an out and out scam and people should not fall for these scams. It is as bad as the on line banking scams where your bank are requesting that you give them your account details etc.

They are purporting to be HMCS which they are not and this must be reported to the police immediately.

I think the official LB answer should be, please ask the caller to write to your Head Office for this information as you dont have the authority to give the number out.
If you get this call at home, ask them to contact you in writing, as if it IS the courts they will have your address..

            Agreed Beagles?

Agreed, Puff. However, I feel that HMCTS headquarters in London need to be put in the picture as to what is happening and anyone receiving one of these calls, etc., should contact their local police force, also.

Well said BB, let us know too, maybe we can send a Legal Beagles email to them, mentioning that this matter has been brought to our attention, and that we think they should know.

I'm not sure if this is a possiblity.

Not having the bet of days today, so may well be missing somethng, but has this telephone number been confirmed as the one which was phoning?

Clearly there is a genuine unit with a VERY similar name (see my post above). Are we sure we're not putting the cart before the horse here?

That is the problem, Labman. It is a VERY similar name. This is why I am advocating that HMCTS headquarters, in London, need to be made aware and local police forces contacted by people receiving such calls, etc., to check the authenticity of such calls, etc..

                        Re: Northumbria Central Enforcement Unit

I've checked the number on Whocallsme and its showing as Feltham Enforcement, so I think we can safely say that its a scam if people are being told they are being called by Manchester, Newcastle etc, especially as people have not been to court or even in one case have a car!

It would be useful to know the OP's location, unfortunatly the OP was at work when they got the call, so we cant be sure of the number, I only mentioned this as I typed in Northumbria Central Enforcement, and the first thing I found was the scam, so I suggest until we know otherwise, we err on the side of caution and ask callers to write in, at work to say you don't have the authority to give out numbers (or that its an internal number) and you can give an address (any court will accept this surely) or at home say Please can I have these details in writing (again a court should be ok with this!)

                          Re: Northumbria Central Enforcement Unit

I've run a check with Companies House and there is no company registered under the name of Feltham Enforcement. The name Feltham Enforcement isn't showing up on the MoJ Certificated Bailiff Register either. I agree with Puff as to the stance we should take, that is, err on the side of caution.

I still agree with you, Puff, that we should err on the side of caution. Alerting HMCTS headquarters as to what is happening is something that should, perhaps, be done. Who knows, they may already be aware of it, but it doesn't do any harm to let them know again.
