Has the bailiff been into your house?

You need to read and understand this Bailiff Guide - Legal Beagles Consumer Forum and you need to pay attention particularly to the part entitled Magistrates' Fines.

This has now become one of your priority debts along with your mortgage or rent and your council tax.

How much were you fined and have you paid anything towards this yet?

I've had problems with Philips, just listen to Amy's advice and you won't go wrong. All I can add from experience is, don't talk to them on the phone, make sure everything is in writing. If they phone you just tell them you won't discuss financial matters over the phone and for the avoidance of doubt, tell them everything must be in writing.

Like Amy says, this is a priority debt, but with the help of this site it's nothing to be afraid of, just follow the advice, and when you post try and be as clear and precise as you can be. I know from experience that that's difficult as you know in your head what you mean and think everyone is as up to date as you.

I wish you well and I'm sure you'll soon be posting to add your experience and help somebody else. x

They are setting you up, you need to send the SAR from the bailiff guide and find out what these fees are for.

Like Amy advised, you need to send a SAR and find out exactly how much you owe on the fine and what charges they are adding on. Until you find out these details you can't establish if they are adding false charges to your account.

If you have a car I would advise you move it well away from your home in case they try and put a levy on it.

Here are the list of Philips charges and I'm sure Amy will be along soon to advise you.

Warrants issued to Philips from 1st December 2009

Financial Distress Warrant Administrative Fee (added to warrant on receipt) £75.00 Attendance Fee (recoverable on 1st visit) £200.00 Removal of motor vehicle £200.00 Removal of commercial vehicle (large van) £200.00 Removal of heavy goods vehicle £200.00 Storage of vehicle, per day £20.00 Storage of non-vehicle items, per day £0.00 Delivery to auctioneer if not redeemed £0.00 Auctioneers costs 3rd Party (max 15%) Dishonoured cheque charge £30 Credit Card payment surcharge 4% Debit Card payment surcharge £1.00p

Please forgive my interruption here but having made a reasonable offer to them and their declining said reasonable offer..does that not constitute a declination of payment?...And give them no further recourse to legal action? in other words they would be laughed out of court for refusing to accept a reasonable payment...

I also said in post #2, when I gave you a link to the bailiff guide that you need to read and understand it. Have you read and understood it?
