  • Credit card Purchase

Hi can you please advise me. I have a new credit card and purchased a computer from Currys PCworld.. This cost me £1.119.99. When I received the computer and installed everthing I know. I discovered that there is no signal to the monitor. Checked everthing again. I sent Pcworld 6 emails to customer support, but all theses mails bounced back and not delivered. I did manage to get a message to them on my online business account. Got a reply back say sorry blah blah. I then got a further email suggesting I contact the makers and ask them for advice. All over the weekend, I was put on hold and at one stage after 25 mins I was cut off.. I have sent them another email saying the computer is not fit for purpose and want a full refund. I have since purchased another computer as I was desperate for my business. I'm still waiting for a reply back. As I paid by credit card,, how do I make a chargeback to my account. Ive never done this before and looking forward for advice.
    Thanks
    Ray

    Re: Credit card Purchase

    Have a read of this - http://www.which.co.uk/consumer-righ...use-chargeback
    Chargeback vs Section 75

Chargeback is not enshrined in law but is part of Scheme Rules, which participating banks subscribe to.
Debit cards It applies to all debit cards goods, although exact rules may vary between the Visa, Maestro and American Express networks.
Credit cards Chargeback is particularly useful where the cost of the goods or services was under £100 and Section 75 doesn't apply. For all credit card transactions over £100 you also have rights under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act.
    Conditions of chargeback

The main requirement for getting your money back through chargeback is evidence that there's been a breach of contract.
Time limit There is a time limit on chargeback claims - typically 120 days. When this starts depends on the specific circumstances but will usually be from the day you become aware of a problem. There is also an overall cut off point of 540 days for Visa chargeback from the date of the transaction.
Shop/online purchase In the case of tangible goods that you've purchased from a high street shop or an online retailer, the time limit on chargeback would start from the day you receive your items.
You might want to look into a section 75 claim too - http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/c...ection-75.html
Ever bought an item only to get home and found it doesn't work? Or booked a hotel room only for the owners to go bust?If you've used a credit card to make these purchases, then you have rights to a refund even if you're turned down by the retailer or service provider, as UK law considers your credit card company equally liable if you suffer a breach of contract

    What protection do I get?
Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974 gives credit card users protection in the event they suffer from a breach of contract or misrepresentation when buying goods.
It removes the risk that people could be put into debt for goods or services that weren't received at all, were faulty, or were otherwise not as described.
It also provides protection for purchases made from companies that then go bust before the service can be provided - such as a flight or concert.
In these circumstances, the law holds the credit card company jointly liable with the retailer, meaning you can claim a refund from your card provider if you're unable to get it from the retailer.
Debt is like any other trap, easy enough to get into, but hard enough to get out of.

It doesn't matter where your journey begins, so long as you begin it...
