    Please help me I'm feeling so I'll at the moment. I made the biggest mistake ever I stole from a supermarket 'm a complete idiot' never ever done this before d h I'm feeling so terrible haven't told my husband as to ashamed .
    I had police called and got a on the spot fine. I've paid this.
    My question is I'm petrified of getting a letter through the post on civil recovery. Will this happen. ? They got items back in selling condition. .
    It's eating me up thinking I'm going to get a civil recovery letter please please help

    If you do get one then, as always, just ignore it. They have no legal position to issue fines or penalties, the police have already done that. There has been no loss, the security staff were doing what they were being paid to do. Was it the police who issued the fine?

    Search around here for other RLP threads. You may just find the Oxford case where they did chance their hand at court and got seriously beaten. They haven't tried again since.

      Thanku for your quick response I really can't believe I've done this yes the fine was from police ,I got a full-time ban from the store. . I'm just fearing the letter coming through and my partner finding it . Doo they go into detail about what happened. And how likely is it IL get one please

            Thanku so much. Amethyst. I am glad I now have an idea on what they look like. They are very scary. And are u sure I should just ignore every one ??
            I wish I knew when they would come. Or if they will. It's making me ill horrible horrible horrible. I'm beating myself up as it was so out of character​ and a complete mistake. Which I fully regret

            May I ask does it say the shops name on the letter at all ??

                Yes they are meant to be scary, but seeing them in advance hopefully lessens their impact a bit.

                It will have the name of the store at the top. Sometimes they include the value of goods recovered/stolen.

                There's really no way of saying when they would start chasing you - I don't know your personal circumstances of course, but I think telling your partner what happened and what's coming ( and send them on here if they are concerned maybe?) might help take the weight off your shoulders a little ?

                But yes, when they do arrive you should ignore completely.
