  • Recieved a warning letter from my ISP

    Hello

A few days ago I received a warning mail from my ISP concerning "downloading illegal movies". I didn't download any movies using my computer in the last two or three years. Does it mean my PC got hacked and somebody else is downloading illegal stuff through my PC? How should I respond to this?

Was it a letter or an email ? Any chance you can do a scan of it ?

There are many scams about regarding 'illegal downloads' where they build up to asking you for money, so best to check if this is genuine and then should be able to help you deal with it.

This is very likely to be a scam. Until you are 100% certain it is from your ISP (contact them separately) then do NOT reply and do NOT click on any link and do NOT visit any web site or phone any number referred to in the email. To do do so could cause you or your PC all sorts of problems!

SCAM = has been reported by peeps - look out for these type scams, so much in the news these days, thing is if you do something wrong a check of your IP can be made to identify you thru server, these people do not know you if they did they would send letters threatograms officially??? makes you realise that something wrong when say Regulator etc cannot trace their IP????

        Just a thought?
