Until you get the marker removed you are really going to struggle. Is the marker legitimate ? (I mean did you give false information in an application that resulted in the marker)#staysafestayhome
Any support I provide is offered without liability, if you are unsure please seek professional legal guidance.

This would be related to " application fraud " I think one of the commonest reasons for this was mortgage brokers encouraging applicant to inflate income levels.

Yea...I gather that :-( Yes, false information was given...I was sooo poorly advised by the mortgage broker, who incidentally knew the story! He should have known that these days everything HAS to be above board. I guess it is what it is now and I'll have to deal with it and bide my time! The reality is that I'm self employed but have only been so for 10 months. I said I was employed and produced a payslip to confirm this, which obviously wasn't legitimate! I got found out I guess...mortgage was declined and I got a category 4 marker! If I had waited until I could produce verified accounts there would have been no problem..but I was in too much of a rush! What a shame...as I was even earning more as self employed than this payslip suggested...so affordability was no problem! Such a punishment for a minor mistake...but the accountant who produced the payslip and the mortgage broker who used it in the application should have advised me that this would not go through...and I had absolutely no clue of the consequences of my actions...I'm gutted!!!!

Have you been in contact with either the broker or the accountant?
The way this whole matter will be seen is that all the parties you/accountant/broker are complicit in producing a fraudulent mortgage application.
This in my opinion is going to be difficult to overcome.
The fraudulent application will also be flagged by National Hunter a specialist agency that major lenders use to check on potential borrowers it comments on previous applications advising lender of previous problems.
It may help you to consult a specialist law firm to see if there is anything that can be done. Take a look through LB Compare to see if there is a company that might be of help.

Re: Broker who can help get finance with category 4 Cifas marker
No, The Mortgage Broker just said he was stepping away from the application. When I called the accountant to say there were problems she said she would call me ...but didn't! The lady who owned the establishment where I allegedly had (but didn't have) full time employment for the required 3 months just casually said...it was a shame it was declined!!!! I just feel totally abandoned by all parties whom I would have expected decent advice from. I've never applied for a mortgage before...had heard that years ago this process was used successfully and with not a shred of malice involved decided to try and secure a mortgage on it myself...purely on the basis of affordability and I had the deposit! I absolutely had no intention or wasn't even aware to be honest that it constituted FRAUD! How naive ...I've learned so much in the last few months...but the cost has been too much. I so wish I could turn the clock back..I wish they had called me in for a chat...told me the consequences and advised me the right way proceed with a strict warning that if it happened again I'd get the full wrath of the law...I feel so embarrassed ..t be treated like a criminal when there was so little intent ...But to get back to your reply...I'm not sure if they would have been in touch with the Broker but as for the accountant I was never asked who produced the payslip...in fact I never even met her...the lady who owns the establishment of work got the payslip for me!
