Hi there,
I have a 'debt' of £1800 that is showing up on my Credit Report owing to PRA Group. It is from August 2011 however they haven't contacted me in any way and I didn't know I owed this until I logged in to my report recently. I assume it is from payday loans as I stupidly took a couple out when I was in a tight spot years ago, however to my knowledge I paid back what I owed and never borrowed anywhere near £1800.
I am desperate to get this off of my credit report ASAP, however am conscious that in 10 months it will have been 6 years so will drop off.
I was thinking perhaps I would contact them (to reiterate, they haven't contacted me at all) and offer to pay £200 or so in return for them removing the debt from my credit report. The alternative is that I leave it and it becomes un-enforceable in 10 months so they won't get any money. This way they get a bit of money and I get the item removed from my credit report sooner than in 10 months time.
Does anyone have any experience with something like this and think it could be a solution? Is there any terminology I should use when negotiating? Will they be able to remove all trace of it on my credit report? e.g. I don't want it registered as a partial payment.
Thanks for your help!!!
