Hey folks, need some advice. Just returned my contract hire vehicle after the full 4 years of hire. Just got a letter from the company yesterday demanding £525 as there was no service history with a the vehicle. As far as I can see there is nothing within the contract I signed obligating me to service the car. Just the usual around no excessive wear and tear. Any thoughts?

Re: Charge for no service history
If the car was on hire purchase, there is usually a general condition under "your obligations" or words to that effect which notes that you should maintain and service the car in line with the servicing guidelines. If its not then you might have been lucky. Even if there is a term in there, I would query how they have arrived at that amount.

Hi, thanks for posting a reply, it was brand new when I got it, had it 4 years, very low mileage when returned, 26k.

Re: Charge for no service history
Do you have a copy of your agreement ? Certainly worth checking it or at least asking the HP co for a copy or to point out the terms which allow them to charge you for a lack of service history.#staysafestayhome
