Costs

I have been served with a bill of costs for £32,000 from 1 of 3 representatives.Two where successful but one wasn't C H legal hold £15,900 in respect of disbursements.They say i should pay them £1,695 and offer the rest to the 1st defendants in the hope this is enough to deter further costs.I have a policy with Alpha Insurance to cover costs but C H legal say they are making little progress with them to cover the bill of costs.There is no guarantee the first defendants will accept the amount offered and would i be liable for the rest.Also what is disbursements and who gets them if the policy pays out. Should i sign the letter and give consent to go ahead and try. Or is cthere any advice that could be it would be very much appreciated.

Hi i had a NIHL case ongoing 2 of the 3 defendants settled out of court the other defendant requested i have another test done by there hearing specialist and an independant engineering specialist had a talk with me..My results where I believe within parameters.The defendants hearing specialist put there case forward.I believe the engineering report was favarouble.But my hearing specialist said he didn't want to go to court and so i was told i needed to sign a notice of continuence.I was consistently told i have insurance covering costs.How is it that an insurance company is able to withdraw cover.

So 2 defendants settled, the third insisted on a hearing test by their own expert, who put a report forward- and would have done the court hearing ? - you had your own hearing expert (enaged by the solicitors firm ? ) who refused to attend court ? even though the report was in your favour? and your solicitors advised you to discontinue the case ? So the costs are for the 3rd defendants wasted costs ( hearing expert etc ) - are your solicitors charging you for work done or just disbursements ( paying your hearing expert / court fees etc ?)..... was it a no win no fee type deal you signed up to with the solicitors ?

I think we may need to see agreements/insurance info.
