  • PPI Claim started

I have been cold called by Red Hawk, who are now sending me a huge batch of claims to sign and post back to them within 4 days. they charge 30% + VAT. I have ignored all ppi calls till now, but find it really hard to organise claiming back ppi myself as it goes back 30 years. I have read a lot on this forum and now feel inclined NOT to sign, but ignore them and seek some other way. Any advice about what to do next?

We would not reccomend using Redhawk Legal, there have been numerous issues reported to us about them.

I realise it can seem a daunting task doing it yourself but the reality is you don't stand any better chance using a CMC. It's not easier either as you'd need to provide the same information to a CMC as you would to a bank doing it yourself in any event.

We'd quite like to see the claim pack they send you. 30% + VAT would mean you pay them £320 if you reclaimed £1000, or £1800 if you reclaimed £5000.

There is a guide here http://lbcompare.co.uk/compare-claim...ion-insurance/ and most banks / lenders you can call and they will send you a form to fill in.

Thsi thread might give you a bit of inspiration - http://www.legalbeagles.info/forums/...-some-one-help

        Hi Ms Marple,

I like yourself always felt it a bit daunting to make PPI claims.
In the past 4 years I've made 6 successful claims, with my last two I had to resort to issuing court claims against the companies involved this was after 2 years of them saying If I went to court they would have the claims struck out.

After I filed my claims they were quick to pay out without going near a court.

Most of my other claims have been very straight forward, just takes a bit of time reading up on the process and how to go about getting your money back.

It is without a doubt better starting your claims yourself, these CMC companies are getting money for old rope.

I'm sure with help from people on this forum you will be able to proceed with your claims no problem.

        Regards,

        and good luck with that.

Thank you all for replying so quickly. What an amazing site this is! So, I am not under any obligation to these people even after they have sent me their bumpf?

Have you signed any kind of contract/agreement with them? Even if you had you'd have 14 days in which to cancel without penalty.

No, I haven't even received them yet. Just making sure, as they are now bombarding me with texts and emails!

Ok even though you haven't signed an agreement to actually cancel I would e-mail informing them that you have decided not to proceed any further and that you do not wish to be contacted again. If they do attempt to continue contacting you to talk you round then come back here and we'll help you draft a formal complaint.

I agree with that, even though you don't believe you have entered into any contract yet I would email them to formally officially cancel. Also ask them to stop texting and telephoning you. You just can't trust some firms sadly.
