  • Hi Everyone!!!

    Hi Everyone!

Looks like a good friendly forum with lots of information!

Really hoping you can help me! Will go into more detail when I know which section to post in but basically I run a small company based in cambridgeshire and use Internet forums as part of my advertising! I am having problems with a particular forum that I use where there are several customers of my competitors that put up comments about my company and personally about myself and my partner! Despite constant asking the admin/moderators refuse to remove these comments! Is there anything we can do to stop this as it is beginning to have serious effect on my business!

    Thanks in advance

    Batfink

      Hi Batfink

Welcome to the Legal Beagle forum.

Generally the rule of thumb with internet forums is that stuff will stay up till you 'get legal'.

A well worded letter from a solicitor accompanied with a threat to litigate against the server company should result in removal of the offending comments.

If this issue is affecting your business, I would recommend investing a couple of hundred pounds in a decent solicitors letter to stop this once and for all. Although we recommend self-litigation in most cases, I would doubt they would take a personal letter seriously enough. (although worth trying if you havent already put your complaint in writing)

Most web sites are very poor and cannot even consider entering litigation.

As this is clearly caused by 'sour grapes' from your competitors, I doubt the forum would persist with the posting of the items you object to.

Please start a thread in the 'general' section with more details.

      Good luck and welcome
"Although scalar fields are Lorentz scalars, they may transform nontrivially under other symmetries, such as flavour or isospin. For example, the pion is invariant under the restricted Lorentz group, but is an isospin triplet (meaning it transforms like a three component vector under the SU(2) isospin symmetry). Furthermore, it picks up a negative phase under parity inversion, so it transforms nontrivially under the full Lorentz group; such particles are called pseudoscalar rather than scalar. Most mesons are pseudoscalar particles." (finally explained to a captivated Celestine by Professor Brian Cox on Wednesday 27th June 2012 )

        Re: Hi Everyone!!!

Yes there is something you can do. There is such a thing as online libel and the internet and forums do not operate outside the law.

        Have you got screenshots?

Also, what resonse, if any, do you get from the site admin/moderators?

Look here for example. Anonymity no protection for online libellers | The Register

          Re: Hi Everyone!!!

I would suggest placing your info here for the time being and we can move it if necessary at a later stage

Oh re your problem - then yes I agree totally with Celestine, a well worded solictors letter will usually make them remove the offending posts. But will read your full popst in general now I just noticed you put it up
