Re: train2game
Hi rachael - welcome to LB!
Was there a cancellation slip on any of the paperwork he was given when he signed up? Has he had any letters from the loan company regarding payment? Is there any chance you can scan the paperwork and either post up redacted copies on here or email them to me (kati@legalbeagles.info)?

It's better to keep everything in writing if at all possible, that way you always have something to refer back to if you need to :tinysmile_twink_t2:Debt is like any other trap, easy enough to get into, but hard enough to get out of.

Re: train2game
Hi Rachael
I had dealings with these on behalf of a friend. Try googling "train2game" and you will see many bad reports about them. They used to be called something else, but got closed down for unfair trading and dishonesty (they were claiming to be accredited to all sorts of respectable bodies such as City of Guilds etc & using their logos)
The finance company is a sister company to Train2Game, with the same directors. They both operate out of the same offices in Luton, if O recall.
They will not cancel the course.
I got my friends son to cancel the direct debit and argued that he had never received a loan and had not signed anything that authorised the loan company to pass the money directly to Train2Game. If I recall, Train2Game were saying that it was the loan company who The son had to deal with. We used to get the most hilarious letters that looked like they had been written by a 12 year old talking about irrelevant rubbish such as "we are not prepared to listen to threats or abuse" and numerous references to the internet. Eventually, we started receiving correspondene with the Header "Supreme Court" and the Supreme Courts logo was on the top. It was a childish bluff to try to scare the debtor into backing down.
I believe that no money passes hands between the 2 companies when the loan is taken out and that when instalments are paid, only then is money divided between the 2 companies.
I kept asking for evidence that money had actually passed from 1 company to the other. Every time they mentioned court, I wrote back advising that I would be counterclaiming for all monies already paid. (I think they were even charging him extra for late payments)
Eventually, they gave up, which was a bit disappointing as I really did enjoy reading their letters.
Stop the direct debit and start a complaint. Put them on the back foot by demanding all money be refunded. (this is the finance company) Ignore Train2Game at this point as it will be the finance company who come after you for the money. They won't give in easily but you are in the right and perseverance will pay off.Last edited by EXC; 16th January 2015, 07:57:AM.

Re: train2game
Hi, My son is in a similar position, we have just decided to stop payments and make a complaint about the company, asking for full refund!!! and go to office of fair trading, also tiga the endorsing body works from the same area 3 mins apart. I am trying to get as much evidence as I can to show office of fair trading.

Re: train2game
Could there be 2 problems here?
Train to game have a Contract with the customer to offer training good or not but the finance company loans the money to the customer who no doubt signs the money over to T2G so in effect the course can be cancelled after a period legally allowed and the money returned to the loan company but after this period is over by cancelling the course the customer is liable to pay fees and in a separate contract is liable for repayments to the loan co.
As there are 2 separate contracts wit 2 companies does this not create problems?

Re: train2game
I would definitely stop paying the instalments for the loan. It might be harder for you to obtain a refund for payments already made but you can always keep this in reserve for a counterclaim, in the unlikely event that court proceedings follow. Common sense should tell you that any company who send silly letters headed "Supreme Court" with the Supreme Courts log, do not have an intention of issuing proceedings.
The 2 companies play one against the other, in order to make it hard for you to get anywhere. I found that a polite letter and cancelled re-payments went a lot further than just a polite letter. Once the payments have been cancelled, they need to prove that money has actually changed hands, otherwise, they have no claim. The course they offer is worth a fraction of what clients pay for it and the qualification is worthless.
Once you've stopped the payments, put it in writing and ask for evidence that a transaction has taken place. Also ask for evidence that authorises them to pass your money onto a 3rd party.Last edited by Kati; 21st January 2015, 19:17:PM.
