  • Just Published an Open Letter To Key Political Figures and Tweeted it to them

I have a very complex set of legal issues. Stretching back over many years. I have autistic spectrum disorder, makes communicating very stressful. No one was listening to me, so felt I had to do this. It wasn't easy to write, it has been even harder to share publicly. Not sure if it was right thing to do, but their is no going back now.

    Hi and welcome

    I have had a read.

Have you spoken directly to your MP Mark Williams ? and have you spoken with Carers UK or Citizens Advice at all ? It sounds like you have been trying to deal with this on your own despite the DWP trying to account for your mental health condition.
At which point I believe I was obligated to inform them of my mental health condition. At which point they took the position that I must require an appropriate adult with me to attend any interview.
I would take a lot out of the letter, keep it to the point. A lot of the second half - from ''Writing this is not a pleasant experience, it's embarrassing airing my affairs in such a public manner, but I feel I have been left no choice. '' to '' Perhaps instead of voting no confidence I should use my vote in protest and vote for UKIP. '' isn't needed at this point, though I realise you have used it to just get everything off your chest, it loses any impact.

    Just my initial thoughts.

I've had a read too ... and I have to say "well done" for building up the courage to write it!!

I agree with Amethyst. Your next point of call should be your local MP and CAB offices, and Carers UK should be a lot of help to you too

      Good luck hun.

Re: Just Published an Open Letter To Key Political Figures and Tweeted it to them

I don't get how it loose any impact. Point I was trying to make was even though I have no faith in any political parties or candiates, i have faith in what the system could be. Everybody deserves to have their say, their voice heard. Which is why unlike many of my peers who refuse to vote, I discount mine. I have been CAB, I have asked for help from a number of differnt sources and gotten no where.
I could go and see local MP and have flase promises made behind closed doors whilst nothing gets resolved. Politicans only act in self interest, when their is public attention on them, anything that can bolster their public profile etc. Atleast this way by putting everything out in open, I can gain some support.
The other polictcal parties are scared of UKIP, my main point in referncing them is because it's topical and contraversal, the more traffic I attract to my post the more attention it recieves. I have had 70 page views in 12 hours compared to 89 pages views since Jan 31st 2012.
Can you comprehend how diffcult my life/job is. This morning My Nan is in bad state, I am concered she will not even live till christmas if she keeps deteriorating like this

I go to weekly counciling sessions at mind, their wasn't anyone available to act as advocate due to cuts in funding in local area. I no longer have any of my offical court documents as the duty took them and never returned them. No the most professional behaviour. She should have had her own copies, not being reliant on mine then not returning them. Not even having correct date of court appearence on letter. Screams incompetence

I just don't have faith or trust in people anymore. I would love to be proved wrong. so far my post has attracted 104 views with 2 votes of not guilty so I have 100% of the total vote so far. Too bad court of public opinnion doesn't hold much sway within the context of the law

Re: Just Published an Open Letter To Key Political Figures and Tweeted it to them

                    Hi Nedraed,

Welcome to Legal Beagles and well done. It's hard to imagine what you have been through, and whatever happens from here on you should rightly be proud of what has been achieved.

I have a certain amount in common with you in that I have recently been diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome by a specialist psychologist. I have also suffered severe mental health issues on and off all my life, but which have been especially prominent in the past 12 or so years.

I have made a MASSIVE mistake, and I would caution you against making the same one. I was too open about myself. I thought I was doing the right thing, and at times I still do, but the down side has been the lashback from a range of places and people which has served only to exacerbate things, sometimes to a point where I have been made very ill indeed by them. Please think carefully before putting too much information out there when you don't need to - once on the internet it's there for good, searchable by future employers (and many do) and has implications you may not even begin to think of currently.

When I had problems I went to my MP (I'm in Wales too). He put me in touch with someone in the WAG (Welsh Assembly Govt for the none Welsh dwellers) who was absolutely brilliant. They put me in contact with MIND and they stayed with me right through to legal action. The support was unbelievable. If you can contact your MP, possibly mentioning the above, they may be able to do the same.

I know you're already in touch with MIND, but you may find that WAG intervention on your behalf suddenly overcomes many of the barriers you seem currently to be facing.

I've not read the second version of your letter as I actually find it quite hard to read after my own experiences (which have been nowhere near as bad as yours early on). However, if you have a court case, it is not going to go away. You appear to be aware of Mindfulness from one of your comments. I'm sure your counsellor will have mentioned it and used it with you.

You are right - you need to focus on the present. That means getting things ready for this court case to the best of your ability, and you're clearly a person of huge mental strength; you've had to be. The past may need mentioning, but the present and what is actually happening to you now is far more important for this case.

If afterwards you want to campaign 'against' a system which you feel has let you down, go for it. I'd question whether now is the right time. Again I speak from some difficult experiences, and as someone who also has HFA and severe MH issues.

To reiterate, please be careful what you put online about yourself. It can, and often does come back to bite you. You might want to consider removing it while you can. Focus on the present, on preparing this case with the help of MIND. Bear in mind what I said about my MP putting me in contact with the WAG and how incredibly useful that has proven. The communication issue and 'ability' to misunderstand certain things is very real for anyone with ASD, this will clearly form a significant point in your defence.

                    Good luck.
