  • Hello!

    Hi
I have just joined this wonderful team and thanks to the comments regarding Trades Gateway convinced me to cancel the financing that I got through Caledonian Finance in time.

It is very difficult to discern who to trust when faced with a sales rep who appears so genuine and empathetic to your circumstances and everything seems to go so smoothly despite a low credit score... so a big thanks to Legal BEAGLES and its members!

      Re: Hello!

Hi anwar, I have amended your post slightly so you don't get any problems with the company - what kind of course were you looking to do and how did the company first get in contact with you originally ? Could you afford the monthly payments set ?

Have you also contacted Trades Gateway to cancel the course ? I don't know if you had already received any course materials but you need to ensure they are returned by registered post too.

Did the sales rep leave a copy of the credit agreement and cancellation policy with you, if so would you be able to copy and upload them (minus your personal details) please as it might serve to help others.

        Re: Hello!

        Hi

Fortunately I have managed to cancel both the credit agreement and with the course provider. They told me that I would get a confirmation in the post with a label for freepost to return their course material, unless I wanted to keep it, in which case I would not have my deposit of £50.00 returned to me.

My wife had been applying for electrical courses and I got a call one day from a person who said that he could provide a tailor made course for my requirements and asked to visit us at home. He stayed for two hours and we felt a bit pressurised to take his offer, but m wife insisted we needed to discuss it. He gave us a deadline for the following day as he said otherwise the course would be closed. We didn't want to miss yet another opportunity so we signed on the following day. We were left with the copy of the credit agreement but not informed of the cancellation rights. My wife did know that there would be a cooling off period and as we were not at ease, she checked the agreement and found that if I dropped off anytime during the course, I would still be charged the full £5,800... We simply did not feel safe in this investment so decided to cancel and managed fortunately to do so on the last day of the given 14 day period.

Then when I wanted to ask the lecturers some questions as I had clearly stated that as English is not my first language and I would need assistance and was assured that I would get that and more, I was quite shocked at the brusque manner the tutor used when she told me that I had to read things on my own and she could only help check my assignments. I felt lost and confused as even though my wife was able to help me to understand, because of the technical nature, her understanding was limited as well.

I was very fortunate to be recently admitted to Ashford College for a 4 year course with a brilliant tutor who accepted me despite being three weeks into the course. I have attended my first course last Tuesday and feel elated and very confident that I will achieve what I had hoped to achieve.

Good luck with your new course @anwar ... I hope you do well

Are you able to upload your Trades Gateway cancellation policy and the credit agreement you signed (personal details removed), as I know it will help us to advise others who want to cancel their course

          K xx
