Scam- bank transfer

Hi, new to this so don't know what I'm doing, but like a lot on here have been scammed. My main gripe, besides the plod being a waste of time, is the fact that within app 4hrs of my transfer going through to the scammers account(tsb) I phoned Halifax fraud number to see if they could some how inform the tsb first thing in the morning that it was a scam and ask them to hold the funds or delay releasing them, they said they could do nothing, surely this is not right. money could still have been in the scammers account. I realise that they could have been withdrawn immediately on line and I will be doing my best to find out if they did or not. I need to know if the Halifax could really do " nothing ".

Can you give us a bit more information on what's happened please - so we can gear any advice to your situation?

1. How were you scammed?
2. How did you find out about it being a scam?
3. Did you contact the police - what did they say/do?
4. What did your bank say/do?
5. What did their bank say/do?

we where really silly, we got carried away, we where thinking of buying a camper van, been looking on different sites and found an oldish one on a caravan club link. Well to cut a long story short after a few e,mails the guy selling said he was a soldier, being deployed, and had to sell, he wanted paying through google wallet, we had a look for this and found it existed, we also had a look for his barracks and found them, so did bank transfer from Halifax to tsb in London. Later that day something clicked and we searched again to find google wallet do not do bank transfers. Called halifax fraud who said there was nothing they can do, and they can't contact the bank it was transferd to. The police have just passed us on to victim support even though we have now found this guy on different web pages as he seems to have been scamming people for years. Just so cheesed off we were so stupid !

Hiya, I've asked [MENTION=7]Tools[/MENTION] to have a look later when he;'s in from work but could you please post up the bank details that you transferred the money in to, name on account you were given, sort code, account number, bank and amount. Also could you post a link to the advert (it won't be on the site any more but if you have the title or description etc it might help ) Did Halifax take the bank details from you or did you giev the bank details to action fraud or anything ?

I'm sure you already know its very unlikely you will get your money back. Usually in these cases the money is removed from the account within a couple hours of you making the transfer - they often ask you to send a text or email when you've done the transfer - just so they can get their person to take the money out.

Also don't be beating yourselves up about it these scams are very sophisticated and catch a lot of people out.

Hi and welcome, sorry to hear of another victim.

As several have already asked, I need the following asap for starters

• Beneficiary Name
• Sort code
• Account Number

These are the main details to get to me asap please. Once I have those I can pass on to Lloyds.

Can you also give me the link to the post on the Caravan Club website please. If you haven't already then report it to them as being fraudulent.

Sadly, as Amethyst & Kati have correctly told you, it is highly likely the money will have been withdrawn with little hope of it being recovered.

Once you have given me the info above, and if you haven't already, you need to report it to Action Fraud, the Police should have asked you to do so anyway.

Hi Amethyst and Tools,
thanks for replies, the guys name is Stephen Morrison, and acc details global motors, receiving sort code 777234 receiving A/C no 00287060 TSB bank London receiving customer PAYHUBER client holding A/C.
We transferred £3000. Told money was through about 5.30 spoke to Halifax fraud about 8.20.
Google wallet are supposed to hold money for 10 days for transaction to go through, delivery, acceptance etc.
we called the police first night, they said as he said he lived in Scotland we needed Scottish police to sort it, they said not, so called local again, met up with police and they said nothing they could do and had to fill a form for action fraud.
I then googled his name and scams, he came up on a forum for campers club, also on other links from 5 years ago selling cars( supposedly) he uses tony Morrison as well. If my husband can add any more details when he gets home I,ll get him to add to this.
