  • need help regarding cineworld unlimited problem

    Hi All,

    I am new to this forum and I need your help.

    I took a 12 month contract with Cineworld unlimited card. Then after 1 month I realize I am not using it and wanted to cancel. I cancelled the direct debit after 1 month directly and informed them that I no longer wish to continue.

    But they did not terminated my agreement and now they have passed my details to debt collection agency. I received a notice from debt collection agency to pay £87 in 7 days to continue with the membership of cineworld.

    I have main concern about my credit history. Is my credit history already spoiled ? or if I will not pay money to debt collection agency, it will get spoil after that ?

    I am okay to pay to keep my credit history good. Please help.

    Thanks a lot friends :-)

    Do you have a copy of the agreement between yourself and cineworld, and was the cancellation in writing?

              Cancellation period is fifteen days, however initial period is twelve months.

              Initial Period: a period of 12 months from the Start Date;

              Legitimate Grounds: where the User is unable to use his or her Unlimited Card for a continuing period of two calendar months due to medical reasons or because the User’s permanent address moves to an address outside the Territory;

              And basically the terms say you can't cancel within the first twelve months without legitimate grounds.

              It shouldn't have affected your credit file yet as sounds as tho you have opportunity to bring payments up to date and agreement continues.... and I don't believe it would be reported to CRAs anyway as it isn't a credit agreement, but I'm not sure if the dca can report, someone else will know.

                Re: need help regarding cineworld unlimited problem

                yes...most important thing is not about money paying back....

                I was totally ignorant about the system here, as I am new to the country. The important concern is credit rating history.

                I hope they have not reported me as defaulter. I have no idea what is going to happen. So I will pay the money back soon.

                What do you think ?

                  Re: need help regarding cineworld unlimited problem

                  You'll just have to go to the cinema more often

                  As you tried to cancel outside the fifteen days and within the initial period it would appear they are within their rights to obtain the full 12 months payments from you. So this could mean debt collectors and eventual possible court action which if they won could affect your credit file.

                  Sounds a bit like a gym contract actually......
