im spinning in circles not knowing a single thing about anything related to my issue.

For the past 6/7 my identity/credit file has been crossed over with a girl with the same name, date of birth etc. For years I've been mithered with debtors, baliffs, court summons.. when in fact " that's not me" I have a few times tried to tell people its someone else to be told I'm lying. This has caused huge family rows. Not just that, I've also paid a lot of the debts off. Had my car clamped for her debt and yesterday discovered that I've been paying her court fines out of my family benefits. Examples are : court baliffs came with a warrant for my arrest to take me to court for a t.v licence offence. I had to pay £180 on the spot or go to court. I paid the £180. Also to the sum of £255 & £70 had money deducted each week from my benefits which were police fines for theft. I didn't realise there were 3 credit ref agencies and I can't access my credit file as I always fail verification. Also I fail verification with my bank. Been stopped by the police, can't get any credit whatsoever, car insurance is a nightmare. And this has been like this for years. I was diagnosed with aggrophobea a couple of years ago and have tablets daily to lessen my anxiety with the outside world. I don't open my post, rarely answer the phone and even something as simple as email takes so much effort. This is all to do with yhe debts this lady has to which my life has been crazy. And now finally its come to light that infact it isn't me. The courts where the fines were issued which I've paid confirmed it is a different lady and have issued me a £366 cheque for the money I've paidxfor her fines. But this is only the start. I can't get a look at my credit file from any of the 3. Agencies as I fail verification. Sorry for the long (brief) story. Please advise.

hi, i contacted the show but there not in production at present. im really stuck as to what next. if i went to a solicitor, what area do i search for??? i.e criminal law, family law, litigation??? And as i cant access my credit file im unsure as to how much debt is really against my name. i suffer from agrophobia so communication is a huge struggle and it takes me quite a while to get through the anxiety of opening letters, phone calls and simply things like emails. i think a solicitor would be able to advise me. many thanks x

Blimey, you've ended up with a right pickle with the CRA's and Debt Collectors, through some error at the CRA's because of someone with the same name as you, who has a number of debts and court fines, some of which you have paid off.

Yes you do need some help as you shouldn't have been dealing with this without any help for the last seven years. I'll see if someone can help you with this properly and help you start getting your life back together.

I will come back to you a bit later on, the person I need to speak to is out for a little while.

Do you have much in the way of paperwork of all of this gathered over the years ? If so do you have a way of scanning/photographing it at all ?

Any idea of how much you have paid off debts that aren't yours / court fines etc.

Have you had problems getting credit whilst this has been going on ?

Also'' The courts where the fines were issued which I've paid confirmed it is a different lady and have issued me a £366 cheque for the money I've paid for her fines.'' Did they confirm that to you in writing ? and did that include the TV licence ''debt'' or just the fines for theft etc she'd incurred?

i have bits of paperwork but not much. i can not get any credit what so ever and its been this way for about 5 years, yet ive had letters for payday loans, lots of phone contracts, even Avon has a debt for me??? the court fines was dealt with over the phone, and a compliments slip was sent with the cheque for £366. but as that was deducted from my child benefits there will be paperwork if requested. the tv licence fine i have paperwork to show the fine was paid £180 at my doorstep plus £80 costs that was again deducted from benefits but im yet to sort this out. my mental health was at one point that bad i had two full laundry baskets full of unopened mail. ive had a health visitor for 2 years who sorts anything to do with the outside world communication and was my voice, all of this will be on record. ive 3 children also so it effected everything. i am now coming through the otherside but i have tablets and support to help with this. im only telling the brief of how lifes been and to think i was in the RAF FOR 8 years leading teams of men, outspoken nicola. that ended up with the life i had was an eye opener. im so glad i can now get this sorted, my name cleared an a new start. thank you.

So your health visitor has been aware what's been happening, that's good. I completely understand about just shutting off from life for a while, no one is going to judge you here.

When you say you fail verification on getting hold of your credit files what do you fail on?

Have you tried the free online services such as noddle ? https://www.noddle.co.uk/sign-up?int...ase2_v2-header

Re: hello and thank heaven i found you. x x x

ive tried noodle and experian, call credit, equifax. i contacted experian once and they reset all info so i could try again, but it failed. i put all the information they ask and my bank card to verify but it says i can not be verified. this one time my bank card for some reason was restricted so i rang my bank but every question asked was not me i.e " i will give you 5 addresses, name which one relates to you" also 5 people and other question but none of the things were related to me. so i failed verification, and had to go into my branch to sort it, but i live far enough away from my bank and have to take the bus. but they had my money so i couldnt withdraw any. i had to ring crisis funds to ask them and they put the phone down, appartently they do nothing like that any more. in the end my health visitor sent a social worker round to take me the bank. all because the information was incorrect, oh what a day that was, and it wasnt my mistake.
