    Re: wescot credit services

If you're sure you owe nothing, then have no contact with them.

Presumably at some point if they do have a legitimate debt to enforce, at some point one of their letters is going to have to state what the debt is and in relation to who the original debt belonged to.

So for the moment, ignore them. Feel free also to return letters back to them unopened, with "not known at this address", because they'll have a return address on the back of the envelope, a quick Google search will tell you who that address belongs to, and well, it causes them more problems than it does you.

It could also be a statute barred debt which a lot of these DCA's buy up cheap in the hope they can get payments for to make money.

If you have access to your credit reference file, take a look at it and see if there is anything untoward on there that might give a clue as to what debt they are chasing, but for the moment, their letters are sufficiently vague that you should be equally as vague with them.

Chances are no one will turn up at your door and no legal action will be commenced.

As they still haven't stated what the debt is for, then their letters amount to unsolicited demands for money and could amount to blackmail and/or harassment.

If it was me i would now send the prove it letter off and then just sit back and wait whilst they rush around getting all the documents to prove the debt - Chances are they will just send you a statment of account of copy of invoice/bill, both of which don't prove the debt and could just as easy be created on a computer. But eitherway you will then find out who the debt is supposed to be owed too and whether it is statuted barred or not.

If you do send the letter, remeber to print your name. DO NOT sign by hand.

Why would you give them any information?

If they have any contract at all, this information would be on it, and they would not be asking.

Either ignore it or repeat that you know nothing about this and ask them for proof of any indebtedness, if they cant provide any tell them to leave you alone or you will commence proceedings for harassment.
"You would be foolish to give out personal details, and you are shocked that they should ask"(that kind of thing)

I agree with the advice you've been given - don't give these people any of your details. If it was genuine, the creditor would have all your details anyway and would have passed these on to the DCA. Don't hesitate to come back for more advice if they persist.

Sounds like more of the usual bull from a DCA. Don't worry about it. If you start getting phone calls come back for more guidance, but me, I'd just file the letters.
