  • Hi everyone- FIF Caseworker

Well still, waiting for the outcome of the FIF project. There was a parliamentary debate yesterday that said the government are thinking about some kind of money advice strategy in place in the Spring.

Closing down cases now and not feeling so good, have a feeling my clients may feel the impact sooner than later.

Could be in the same position as some of the clients in the next few months.

What a waste, to let go of all the specialist knowledge we have picked up over the years and make CAB suffer, perhaps irresponsible lenders should be identified and made to contribute towards continuing debt advice.

    Hi jannew,

Welcome to the site, its nice to see a FIF caseworker on here. It must be a stressful time for you at the moment, is your position continuing or do you just not know as yet ? I know some people have had notices of possible redundancy but nothing definate.

Your last comment seems to be what the government are trying to do by implementing the social fund levy to provide this new money advice service, which only appears to be online and by phone, no face to face.

There is quite a long thread about the problems CAB are facing Citizens Advice staff facing redundancies - Legal Beagles Consumer Forum and a bit of supposition of what might be planned (if anything!)

    Welcome

    Ame

A prime example of an irresponsible and reckless Bank: RBS.

But the Royal Bank of Shame still get big bonuses:
"Reports suggest that an estimated 200 of RBS's highest earning investment bankers would earn more than £1m in bonuses each."

        Re: Hi everyone- FIF Caseworker

As our core funding is also at stake, I shall probably be made redundant on Monday. It is an extremly stressfull time but I also worry about my clients.

As speaking for all FIF caseworkers we could apply all our experience to money advice over the phone and e-mails, but wahat about the clients we have advised who can not read or write, have mental health issues or have no computer and a phone call is too expensive.

Our core advisers are brilliant but could be faced with being over run with debt cases that can not be referred to LSC.

Thankyou very much for the support on this site and PLEASE continue to support your local CAB and all the help it gives to your local community

Thankyou, and I shall be reading all the threads.

          The CAB are brilliant!
And help so many people, with so many different problems...

They are definately part and parcel of the local community and should be supported.
