  • Marstons Bailiffs - TV Licence Non Payment

Looking for advice on the above matter . I am being chased by Marstons who tell me a Distress warrant has been issued for Non payment of Tv Licence . Fine of £450 now £685 !!! ..

1 . The Bailiff has arranged to call and see me at 6.30pm ..

2 Im willing to pay in instalments over 6 months if this is allowable ..

Advice really on how should i proceed , ie should i let him in and discuss and do i have the right to pay in instalments and do i have to pay the extra fees ?

Re: Bailiffs - TV Licence Non Payment .

Technically speaking, a TV licence fine is a magistrate court fine and the bailiffs do have the power to break in, although this is quite rare.

Have you paid anything towards this debt or have you ignored it until contacted by the bailiff?

In the link posted by CJ, there is a further link to a Subject Access Request - I suggest you send this to the bailiff in order to ascertain how they have arrived at the figure they say you now owe.

He MUST NOT allow a bailiff into his home under ANY circumstances. The bailiff will be able to clamp his car and he must move it at the moment.he Contract with HMCS provides that Marston Group are allowed to accept payment arrangements spread over 6 months. The bailiff however will say that this is not the case. He is WRONG. The reason why he will be saying this is because he will not get his commission until the last payment has been made !!!

Back to Square One - They ignored my request to pay in 6 instalments (Made by telephone to the bailiff who advised he will refer to manager and contact me) .........

New Letter posted through door today giving 24 Hours to pay £685 or they will break in and seize goods . (Different Bailiffs name on it but still Marstons)

                Help ?

Re: Marstons Bailiffs - TV Licence Non Payment

I take it they didn't break in and take your goods then, since you posted your last post here on 2nd December?

As Ame has said above, Marston are allowed to accept a payment arrangement and you should pay them regardless of the fact that they are telling you they will not accept them.

You need to stop telephoning and start writing and when you write enclose a payment.

What have you paid so far?
