  • Cabot / Northern Rock loan

Hi. 20 Years ago my myself and partner had a northern rock loan alongside our northern rock mortgage for our 20k deposit.
In 2008 die to maternity leave and poor management of our finances we took out a debt management plan. We ended up clearing all the debt management debts except the northern rock loan that was first sold to Mortimer Clark. We haven’t heard anything about it for about 6 years and recently Cabot have been sending letters and calling. We’ve had an email today saying they will send an Orbit advisor to the house. This loan is 20 years old and and we haven’t made payments for over 8 years at the least. Any advice on what we should do? Is this still enforceable? It’s not on our credit files. Thanks if you’ve read this far!

    Hi Smm208086

    Welcome to LB

From what you say, the debt maybe 'statute barred', no payments have been made in the last 6 years and no written acknowledgement of the debt in the last 6 years.

Orbit advisor has no powers whatsoever, so best ignored and nothing to worry about.

Amend / send Cabot the following letter, make sure you get Proof of Postage.

Update once you get a response.
