Just as an update for anyone who ends up in the same situation. I reported to the police and pushed heavily for it to be treated as a criminal matter given the directors past criminal history (my car was eventually reported as stolen and I was given a crime reference number)

I also reported it to Trading Standards and sent a notice of action letter to him to put on the pressure.

Threatening (and if neccessary following up with) legal action seems to work.

You can report it to Action Fraud and Companies House.

              https://www.enterreg.com/car-dealer-...r-com-coventry

They haven't been trading for long and I couldn't find any online reviews of them. TV

How long ago did they take your car?

They should have signed the yellow slip on the Registration document for you to send to DVLA. Did they?

You have raised possibility of scam and I too am concerned about this. Their website seems to be a clone of a genuine company that trades as EnterReg but is an online trading platform and does not buy cars itself (https://www.enterreg.com/)

Call them as soon as you can and let us know what happens. If you are not satisfied report your car to police as stolen and don't let police fob you off with 'it is a civil dispute': or 'report it to action fraud'.
Ive been fobbed off with said its a civil case.. very annoying, so dvla have said they cant do anything, even more annoying

Home Office Counting Rules and Blackstone's. Plus, last year all police forces signed up to amended codes of conduct meaning they can't "no crime" what is clearly a matter for criminal investigation, until after they've done a proper investigation. Like, check CCTV.

Action Fraud is linked to City of London Police, and they'll look at financial crime, fraud, money laundering etc. If the same person or company repeatedly comes across their radar, they can look at the pattern f repeat wrongdoing. It's how landlords who commit the "compliance check scam" end up in criminal prosecution... An individual victim can seek redress in the civil court for their own losses only, but that doesn't address the fact that the scam being repeated makes it a criminal matter.

100% this guy is a scam he’s from Coventry I used to know him, he buys cars on contracts he prints out and never pays the customer the full amount, they get sick of calling him for months and they end up not taking legal action and taking a small settlement as payment

I sold my car to these guys sometime ago, and have't got any payment. They keep coming up with excuses and false promises. Valval ackfla, can I ask how long it took the trading standards to get it resolved for you?

Be aware, they are now using a new company name:

Yesterday I let my car go with these guys now trading as ‘we buy any motor car Ltd ’ the car was a non runner and was sold as such,I thought payment would be instant but I was told 4 days after the car was loaded. I called him today relay my concerns and the guy reassured me that this was just the process and they would definitely give me the agreed amount next week within the ‘4 working days’ as per the contract.
When the guy initially rang about the car he said he was from ‘we buy any car’ that’s who I thought I was dealing with. It wasn’t until the car was loaded he gave me the contract which just all seemed really dodgy. I then clicked that they weren’t the company I thought I was dealing with and then I panicked, the driver offered for me to keep the cars paperwork and when I’d received the funds I could send it all to them, talked to me about how he’s been working for the company for 10 years etc was really reassuring.
The car was already loaded up and ready to go by this point, I’d literally pushed the car to the truck myself. I just felt obliged to follow through on our ‘deal’.
Now after researching the actual company and the real director I’m completely devastated. All the red flags were there I just didn’t know how to react. Always considered myself not to be like one of those women who gets caught out like this. I feel really silly for thinking that.
The car is still insured and it’s still in my name as I didn’t give the V5. I had to retain my numberplate so that’s coming sometime next week.
Do I wait to see if he pays first like he said he would or do I take action now?

                              Advice very much appreciated!
