    Finally!

As asked in posts 7 and 10, was notice given in the manner specified? It seems that this could be done by email for a notice under cl 5.2, although cl 5.9 as quoted does not specify an email address to be used.
Lawyer (solicitor) - retired from practice, now supervising solicitor in a university law clinic. I do not advise by private message.

Litigants in Person should download and read this: https://www.judiciary.uk/wp-content/..._in_Person.pdf

      Thanks again.

In answer to your question, notice was given by email as specified in cl 5.2. After he gave notice in this way, a Form was sent out to him, which he duly completed in the 7 days specified within the Form. In this Form, he was also asked to explain the reasons for the cancellation. The Form was via a link - which became invalid after the 7-day period.

Then he gave valid and effective notice. Anything after that, such as a request to complete a form, does not change that fact.

Thanks very much for your support, patience and attention to detail. My nephew, his Mom and I feel much more reassured to challenge the payment request.
