I have an employee that is on a zero hours contract. She is employed as a housekeeper and bar maid/receptionist. It has come to my attention that she is clocking in to do house keeping eg last week there was 8 strips, 1 tidy and the bar to clean. She was working with one other member of staff who stripped 7 rooms but this problem employee only cleaned the bar and stripped only 1 room. Both employees clocked up almost 4 hours each yet this problem employee only did an hour and a half’s worth of work. Can I sack her for theft? When she works the bar, it has come to my attention that, if she takes a whim she will call ‘last orders” early and throw people out - on at least one occasion she closed the bar at 10.40 despite the fact we have a 2am license! She clearly has to go so can I also use this as a reason to fire her?
