My partner moved in with me and I carried on claiming they knew I was claiming anyway I got caught my own fault my partner has now left an I'm left to pay debt do they just get away with it*

You were claiming tax credits as a single person despite your circumstances having changed so that you should have notified Tax Credits.* You were subsequently overpaid and have an arrangement to repay the overpayment in place.
Your circumstances have now changed again, you have ( I'd hope) informed Tax Credits of the change ( are you still claiming tax credits or have you moved onto Universal Credit now?)… and are still repaying the previous overpayment.
Is the amount you previously arranged to repay now unaffordable? If so you should contact and try to come to a new agreement to repay an affordable amount.
I'm not sure if you're asking if tax credits or your ex partner 'just get away with it' ? Anyway from what you have said, it was your claim, you failed to notify of your change in circumstances, and it is your responsibility to make the repayments.#staysafestayhome
