  • Pet insurance Claim!

    Hi,*
I recently submitted a claim to my pet insurer for some treatments that my dog has had recently. They have advised me that the claim has been denied as an exclusion was put on my account due to claiming for something similar in the past. Is there any way around this? I find it crazy that you pay a premium for cover that they can just stop. Any help or advice would be much appreciated. *Many thanks.*

Were the previous treatments disclosed to the insurer when taking out the pet insurance ? Or was it the same insurer ? Do you have your insurance contract / policy documents and does this mention pre existing conditions or previous claims ?

Yes all treatments have been disclosed to the insurer and I have all policy and insurance documents. To be honest it’s vague and in quite a lot of “insurer lingo” so I’m not too sure. *♀️

Does anybody think I have a case with the insurers? It’s such a large sum of money that I’d be losing so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can you post up or give a link to your insurance policy* (including schedule and any endorsements)?

Hi, attached is the latest pet schedule that I have received for this renewal at the end of January - although I will not be renewing.
I've just spoken to a senior member of staff at Animal Friends who has advised that I did not place any claims in regards to my pets respiratory system until September 2019, however he had a separate non related condition back in 2018 which I placed a claim for*the*vets made a comment about their being a potential problem with his respiratory system at the time this is why the exclusion was placed on my account to only cover me for a year. This run out at the end of November 2019. I feel like I'm being penalised for placing the claim when I have no control or view of what vets write on the claim forms when they are sent. At the time, there was no mention to me that this would cause the problems that it has to date. Appreciate anyone's help or support with this and please let me know if you need any further information or past schedules/documents. Thank you.
