I'm sorry for the loss of your mother.
So the question is
Is your cousin entitled to anything from your mother's estate?
She died intestate. ( Northern Ireland intestacy flowchart https://beyond.life/help-centre/admi...and-explained/ )
Your cousin lived with your Mother when he was young however you do not know if he was officially adopted by her.
If he was adopted then her estate would be split 3 ways ( you, your sister and your cousin ( adopted brother ) )
If he was not adopted then her estate would be split only between you and your sister.
Adoption - you need to find out if your Mother ever adopted your cousin ( has he claimed he was adopted? )https://www.nidirect.gov.uk/articles...t-certificates
The other question is whether the house forms part of your Mother's estate?
Is the property owned in % through a trust deed or was it jointly owned ? ( you need to check the title deed - https://www.nidirect.gov.uk/articles...istry-of-deeds in NI. and see how the ownership is worded )
