  • Landlord insurance and CCJ

We have recently rented our house out to a family member. We wanted everything done properly so we have taken out landlord insurance. I am at a loss to why you are penalized for have CCJs in the past even if they were over 10 years ago and settled. The quote went from £115 a year to over £350. This seems to be ludicrous even loan companies dont ask for that information. Is this legal or just another way for insurance companies to fleece you......any thoughts

It is certainly not illegal, each company will have its own criteria when rating risk
Have you looked elsewhere for insurance?
