I am looking for some advice re a CCJ i have with Lowell

The CCJ will be 6 years old in November 2019 and will come off my credit report although unpaid

i never once acknowledged any debt with them neither did i acknowledge receipt of or acknowledge any thing from Northampton Court, i have not had any correspondence in the last 5 1/2 years since the CCJ was awarded to them, that is untill today when i have received a letter saying my outstanding debt of £1053.44 remains in arrears

The CCJ on my record for one is £980 and not that amount and for two given that it only has 6 months left to run am i wise at this stage to make any sort of contact?

We are just about to move in woth inlaws for 6 months to put a bit more away for our house deposit, should i not tell any one im moving and ignore?

Any help or advice would be greatfully received, we have really worked hard on getting credit ratings up and improved the past few years and I actulally thought this had almost gone away

    Thanks
    Matt

A debt won't go statute barred once there is a judgment. The judgment holder has 6 years to enforce the judgment though so that could be what they are looking at doing before the 6 years is up.

After 6 years they are supposed to ask permission of the court to enforce and show reason why they haven't to date.

enforcement could be bailiffs, attachment of earnings etc.

Once it has fallen off the register after 6 years then it won't go back on.

£70 increase over 6 years isn't a huge interest rate

But they can keep chasing you for payment. It depends what they are 'threatening' you with in the letter whether you leave it or sort out a payment plan with them. We have seen enforcement of judgments allowed on debts far older than 6 years.

Sorry thats not a definitive answer- you could keep ignoring , it's not going to damage your credit file, but if it's causing concern/stress then paying it off might just draw a line under it and you can concentrate on working towards your house purchase.
