  • Lowell issue

    Hi all,
my partner had a CCJ with Lowell Solicitors, which he paid off in full in February 2019, as yet they still haven’t makes this debt as Satisfied despite us having emails saying the account is satisfied. This is directly affecting our mortgage application as we are saying it’s paid and the lenders are saying the credit report doesn’t show that!
    Many advice appreciated

Have you asked Lowell about the credit file issue ? Normally it would be updated on the next credit file run, so should appear on your credit file within 2 months - so should really be showing by now. Have you checked all three credit reference agencies ? ( I use Noddle( now called credit karma) for callcredit, MSE credit club for Experian and clearscore for equifax ) as they are all free and update each month. On Noddle (Credit Karma) ones I settled show under closed accounts and as either settled or satisfied depending whether I paid it in full or came to an agreement.

If its not been changed yet I would get in contact with Lowell and ask them what's happening, that you paid the debt off in Feb specifically because they said they would mark it on the credit file as closed and settled and they haven't yet despite it being 3 months later.

I had a similar issue with Hoist in similar circumstances and I had to chase them and raise a formal complaint to get them to sort it out. They sent me £50 as a sorry, whoop lol, but it held up my mortgage applications for 5/6 months in the end grrr.
