  • County Court Business centre (Civil Enforcement Ltd)

My wife has received a £60 PCN (supposed) for a parking violation in a private car park managed by Civil Enfocement on 24/08/18 . She was not the driver of the car at the time . I was - using it to collect a take away. (oops) I have ignored the demands from CEL and their purported solicitors to date and have not responded whatsoever, and have now received a Claim form "County Court Business Centre, for £268.09 . DoI ignore this demand , is it a scam? , if its a summons why was it not sent registered.?. Do I fight it , or cough up .

Maybe some one else has had the same problem - Any advice would be helpful.

    Hi & welcome to LB.
Firstly, it isn't wise to ID who was driving at the time, so best edit your post accordingly.
Unlikely that it is a 'scam'....CEL are pretty litigious.
If the claim has come from Northampton CCBC & has a seal & claim no, it is probably a legit claim.
If so you need to acknowledge asap

Acknowledge now on line using the details and password on the form. Do not put anything in the defence. There is now 33 days from the date of issue to get your defence to the court.

Post up the PCN , suitably redacted, leave dates.

The keeper cannot be held liable for more than the original PCN (+ fixed court costs of about £75)

      and edit as requested
