  • A bar has been put on this claim

I have received a Claim Form from County Court Business Centre which I wish to defend online, as advised in the Claim Form. However when I get to the Claim online to defend it a notice appears ' A bar has been put on this claim. You cannot respond to the claim at this time'. I am at a loss as to what exactly this means and would be grateful for any explanation which is sadly lacking from .Gov websites.

What is the claim issue date? (Front of claim form.)

Did you acknowledge the claim ?

Usually a bar is put in place if there is an application - or the court is sorting directions of some sort - but it could be a request for a default judgment if you're late filing your defence.
