  • Afternoon best forum for question

    hi
    i am new here and would appreciate someone pointing me in the correct location for the following question
    many thanks in advance

    Afternoon. My Mother died in 2015 leaving apparently no will. My step father kept Mums name on the deeds of the house, He died in November last year and my sister and I have no sight of his will etc. He has 2 children by a previous marriage who obviously will inherite everything. With the house still being in joint names would my sister and I be entitled to part of it? My grandmother put all her savings in to it to build an annexe where she lived until her death. Any advice would be appreciated

    The Wills and Probate section would be best - https://legalbeagles.info/forums/for...nd-bereavement
    Probably add a bit more info as well, eg;
    Do you have any idea whether he left a Will at all ?
    You say 'apparently' with regards your Mum not having left a Will? Did you take any steps to try and find any will she may have left ?
    How much, do you know, was the value of her estate ?
    Was the house owned as Joint Tenants or as Tenants in Common ( ie did they jointly own it or have it split into 50/50 shares)
    Was your Step-Father married to your Mother ? ( my kids call my other half their step-dad although we're not married so best to check )
    Was he divorced from the mother of his children ?
    Did your Grandmother leave a will ? Did she have any agreement/ownership over the property ?
