  • Made Homeless.

Landlord provided me 10 weeks notice, i provided the council with 10 weeks notice also. Single parent to 3 children, work part time only so unable to secure private accommodation without a gaurontor to which i do not have.
Have had several conversations with someone supposedly working my case in the homeless department. Eviction was on a Sunday, landlord agreed i could stay til the Monday but then had to be out as she had a cash sale on the property. Council asked if i could stay longer, landlord informed the council that the gas and the electric had been turned off. Council rang me at 16.30 to tell me that they had no where for me and my children to go so we had to stay in the property without gas and electricity. Now currently in a room 20 miles away from home with no bus routes or train routes. so no school for the children and no work for myself.

The case worker has been nothing but rude and insistent on not wanting to help. She never once remembered myself or my case and on several occasions has lead me to believe that they have not even looked at my case that has been sat on there desk for 10 weeks, asking me for information on the day of my eviction that has been sat in my file?

Is this acceptable behavior? Is there anything i can do about this?

In the current housing climate it isn't a surprise.

They won't have looked at your situation until the day of the eviction as they are that short on housing and deal with that many homeless that they can only manage t do it on a day by day basis with those in immediate need the priority.

You could lodge a complaint, but that's not going to really change the situation you are in and only really result in an apology down the line for perhaps being rude to you.
