    Hi forum,
I have just been reading some posts on here and have come across a few people saying they have had letters from Lowell saying that their good will be removed. Well i have just recieved the same letter, and it has exactly the same amount payable of £179.25. Personally i dont think this letter looks legit, but still need some advice as i have no idea what this debt is for.
    All advice welcome
    Thanks kirkybear :-)

    HI Kirky,

Does the £179.25 letter have any handwritten stuff on it and incorrect dates on ( April 2017 )

Is it a notice of issue of warrant of control ? Actually would you be able to do a photograph of the letter and post it please ( covering any personal details )

    Thank you

      Hi,
There is nothing handwritten on letter and the only dates on there apart from sent date snd the date that i need to pay by. Have just tried to upload picture of letter but cant seem to do it but it goes like this....
      Dear Sir/madam
      Claimant-lowell Portfolio 1 ltd
      warrant number- ++++++++++

Request For Payment (in big red letters)

This warrant has been issued for the payment of £179.25 (again in big red letters) for the removal of your goods to the saleroom. Unless payment is made to Gloucester & Cheltenham family & civil courts by 2pm 29/09/18 (again time and date in big bold red) you will leave no alternativr but to execute this warrant by attending your premises with the auctioneers van and porters, to remove your goods to the saleroom to satisfy the warrant

      cheques made payable to HMCTS
You will have to pay additional removal and auctioneers costs (written in big red letters)

      yours faithfully
      J Clegg

That sounds pretty similar to the old ones.

Do you have any idea what it is for ? Do you have a CCJ against you ? Did you get a notice of issue of warrant of control previously ( about 2/3 weeks ago ?)

If it's size stopping you uploading you can email me - admin@legalbeagles.info - or - screenshot the photo before trying to upload ( screenshots are a lot smallers than photos and still perfectly good quality )

Okay, first step if you have received nothing else about this is to try and find out what it is for.

Do you have access to your credit file at all ? Is there any CCJ showing ? ( You should be able to check on Noddle for free and it's quite quick to sign up ) It is likely to be fora larger amount than that £179.25 - there seems to be a major problem with Lowell and warrants of control, not entirely sure what's going on but seems to be some issue with the paperwork being issued by the courts. Most of these seem to be for arrears on a judgment obtained back in 2015/2016 that was ordered to be paid by £50 a month installments, but not paid. Mostly because the debtor knew nothing about it.

If there is, and you can see what address it is attached to, you can check on TrustOnline to get the claim number.
Then call the court at Northampton CCBC and ask if they can email you a copy of the claim & Judgment details. Don't mention the warrant at this point or they may get you to try calling the bailiff directly. Once you have that info you should know more about what this is for and be able to make a decision whether you need to sort out payment ( either via the court N245 form - or via direct negotiation with Lowell )

OR.... you can call Lowell directly and ask them what it is for, tell them you are not aware of any judgment against you, and that you have had no previous communication from them, you intend to apply to the court to suspend the warrant and either make an offer to pay or set aside the original judgment - depending on what the original judgment is actually for.

Okey dokey, i did check to see what the ccj is for and all it comes up with is lowell. I get numerous calls a day from lowell saying to contact them but with no other information. I will send them an email and see what they come up with.
                  Thankyou

I found my search from Trust online all it says is CCBC amount for £381 issued 22/8/17 and chacked my noddle report which does not have this on there. Looks like im going to have to call them even though i really dont like speaking on the phone to people :-(

Okay. So do you have a Claim Number now? I would call CCBC first and ask them for a copy of the claim details as you don't know what it is - they try to charge you £10 but explain it is urgent due to having received a warrant and could they email it to you.

They are not great at answering the phone so be prepared to be on hold. The particulars of claim listed in the claim details should give you an idea what the £381 judgment was actually for, and what address it was issued to, and then you can decide whether you need to just get this paid off, whether you want to apply to make payments by installment and the warrant suspended, or have the judgment set aside and the warrant suspended.

I think once you know what is for you would be in a better position to speak with ( or write to) Lowell. The priority is ensuring that warrant is suspended.
