  • Letter from IMFS Collections Department

I have received an email from IMFS which is asking for over £200 plus their £24 administration fee. This is an old ebay account that I had in 2013. I have checked and copied below what I found on ebay and below is what I found, that no monies are outstanding. Just need to know if I should be worried about this. I did owe the money for things sold but thought that it was excessive on what I made so just didn't pay.
    Invoice number INVOICE
    15 February 2017
Account summary 16 January - 15 February Pacific Time
New fees Includes promotional savings and United Kingdom VAT at the applicable rate.
    Total due£0.00
Do you have a question about the total amount due? We’re here to help!
Your account is up to date. No payment is required at this time.

You could ignore and see if they continue chasing you - it has another year before the debt would be statute barred. I haven't seen any court cases brought by IMFS so I don't know if they go down that path. Otherwise if you want to just get it sorted out you could write back to IMFS and ask for more information on the alleged debt as you do not recognise or acknowledge the debt. State that your ebay account shows a £0 balance and that it specifically says " Your account is up to date. No payment is required at this time. " and ask for copies of the original invoices etc. Does the letter say if IMFS now own the debt or are they acting on behalf of ebay ?

If it's just an email then I'd ignore it. If they trace your address and write to you, then consider replying.

I decided to pay ebay but now received an email from IMFS collection department asking for a further £24 I think this is what they've charged for so called admin fees. I have also updated my address with ebay so I expect that they could write to me now. How do I handle this extra bit that they want. Many thanks
