PENALTY CHARGE NOTICE - High Flatworth, North Shields (Northbound) 23rd June 2018

Just back from the cruise passenger terminal and two weeks later I am hit with a Fixed Penalty Charge Notice of £60 (£30 if paid within 14 days). Looking at the camera image, I am in a convoy of 3 cars (me at the rear). The image which accompanied the penalty notice shows a bus lane both north & south direction, so where was I supposed to go ? This particular road must be a lucrative CASH COW, because it's obvious it booked 3 victims in a matter of seconds !!! I admit I was not familiar with the road setup, but looking at the image what could I have done different ? I have very reluctantly paid the £30 but I have an appointment to see my Legal Eagle. Feel very aggrieved about it and would be interested if anyone else has had the same issue ? Benno46

Waste of time, I'm afraid. Once you have paid, you are accepting the contravention and all avenues of appeal are closed.

I would have thought the sign at the entry to the road should be a No Entry one, with exceptions listed underneath. The sign is fo buses etc permitted.

Just out of interest, where were you going? That road is through the Tyne Tunnel trading estate and is signposted as such.

Both seem in order, and signage is correct

Hi,
I've just been given a bus lane contravention fine and have come across a few others who have on this forum. It was in High Flatworth North Shields (North Bound). I wasn't even aware I was in a bus lane as I'd followed my sat nav. I was wondering if you know of anyone successfully appealing this decision,

On what grounds do you anticipate disputing the case?
Concentrating on your satnav and ignoring road signs won't carry much force!
