    Re: Welcome cassiekins7

Thank you for the welcome. I have come to your site for advice please.I will give you a quick rundown of my problem. I am a council tenant and have been for twenty years. Around two years ago I was looking at houses within the council with three bedrooms so in the paper a house came in that I applied for and subsequently got offered the tenancy. There was a row of houses with three bedrooms that used to be flats and the coucil turned them into houses.Iviewed the house and was really pleased with it and accepted the tenancy. There was an ongoing problem with the council and the fuel suppliers at the time and we didn't get the keys for a few weeks. When we got the keys to move in There was no central heating on and it was the middle of winter the electricity was card meter as well. Now I have never had any meters before and didnt really know how to use them or anything. The electricity was okay because you had to get a card from the corner shop and put money on it which i did I put 10.00 on the meter. Now we couldnt move in because there was no heating. So i was paying rent on 2 houses, the only time anyone was in the house was when we were waiting for someone to come and sort the gas out. Anyway the problem didnt get sorted so after one week i gave the keys back to the council and told him i could stand much more of it and stayed in my own house Inever thought about it again until 8 months later when Igot creditors notice saying that I owed Powergen £53.90 for electricity. Since then I have received letters from HL legal with threats Capquest ,Credit Resource Solutions and the one I received today was fromScotCall.I keep explaining that I don't owe the money but no one will listen. I would be grateful for any advice. I am sick and tired of it and feel really stressed and sick of it Thank you

How can you owe electricity if you had a card meter.

Do you have a copy of the electricity bill they are saying you owe on ? Is it for electric useage opr standing charges, and have you spoken to your council about it ?

When I first moved in to my current house there was a key meter installed (still is actually) but I was getting bills for the previous tenant for £183. They have wiped it now as it was a billing system error.
