  • How to reclaim my wire transfer to a fraudster account?

Hello, In 2016 I made a payment via wire transfer of EUR 5,000 from my bank in Luxembourg where I am resident to an account at Lloyds Bank in London, to book a villa holiday. I then discovered that the holiday agent’s email had been hacked and a fraudster had sent me the booking contract with false bank details. I informed the police and Lloyds and asked my bank to recall my payment, which it refused to do. Lloyds tell me they will only deal with my bank. Is there anyway I can claim the payment myself from Lloyds?

Did you give Lloyds the fraudsters account details and did they put a hold on the account ?

Yes, I shared full details and copies of the payment and Police report. Lloyds refused to tell me what amount was still on the account but led me to believe there was a hold.

Can anyone advise how I can proceed to have Lloyds return my payment to me? I wrote to them at the time but they said they would only deal with my bank in Luxembourg who were very unhelpful and ‘not obliged’ to get involved.
