Scammed ??

I'm a little worried I've been scammed.yesterday I received a letter from Cabot financial,telling me I owed £99.for an old debt .i paid .my concern is I have received no confirmation of payment .and having googled them discovered they have scammed a lot of people.i don't know if I can get this money back..I'm a full time mom .I don't get money .only an allowance from my partner.i paid the debt because I did have a loan years ago .but my ex said he would pay it off after we divorce.that was around 8 years ago .I heard nothing till now .but I think this is a scam .what do I do .I've lost £ 100 that I can't afford to loose

I need help .I'm a full time mom.and get no money apart from an allowance from my partner.i hd a loan may years ago .which I believed to be done with.it was with Northern rock.i had a letter yesterday telling me that I owed £99.panicking I paid it.lucky I had it .my concern is this is a scam as I have received no confirmation or response as to whether the debt is now gone.ive read on websites it's a scam company.but it does look totally legit .I paid by visa electron debit card .can I get my money back.i feel a fool

Where did you pay with your card ? over the phone ? or on their website ?

Can you tell us the phone number you used or the website address pls.

Did they say it was Northern rock or are you guessing it might be that ? have you had any prior letters saying anything was outstanding to Northern Rock ?
