There wil NEVER, and I really mean never, be another game like Elite on the C64. Sure they tried to update it for the Amiga, but really, it wasn't quite the same.

Tiny Problem

HERE is our computer game idea: The computer is the dog and you are the frog.
The dog chases the frog, but you can get away by jumping over the dog and score points by jumping on a lily pad — about 100 points. You have four lives.
It has three screens and on each screen there gets less and less lily pads. On the third lot you have three lily pads — two green and one red which is home and scores 500 points.
You have 1000 units of energy to get through each lot.
We do not know how to write this game in Basic. Please could someone do it for us? - Sharon King, age 8 1/2, Paul King, age 6 1/2.
• Is there anyone out there who could program Sharon and Paul's idea for them? If so, get in touch with Micro User!

Some one did write the game for us !! and it was crap (obv at the time it was great)

FROGS V Dogs is probably one of the most compulsive games we've ever published. It's not the fastest game we've ever played, or the most ingenious — it's quite simply the most enjoyable.
The idea comes from eight and a half year old Sharon King, and her younger brother Paul, aged six and a half.
We published their letter describing the game in our December 1983 Micromail, asking for programmers to take up the challenge.
Dennis Ibbotson, the man who programmed the DACC Sprite Generator, came to the rescue with this fun-packed interpretation of their idea.
So, Sharon and Paul, here's your game.
All you have to do is to use the space bar to jump over Fido the dog and the occasional poisonous lily pad — they're the flashing ones.
The longer you survive, the more points you get.
Get more than 500 and you move onto a more difficult sheet.

Ahhhh, RPG's. Don't get me started. The Hobbit was great, but they then tried to get too clever and squeeze LOTR into the 64. Mind you, they did give a free LOTR book with it, so you didn't really lose out when the game turned out to be cr@p.

HAHAHA. I don't see a reason for embarassment. I'd say it was something to be poud of. Cutting edge stuff, especially at that age. There was a LOT of commercial stuff around at the time that should have been quietly burned and forgotten about.

wish I could find a screenshot lol. My dad probably still has the cassette somewhere about. Goodness knows how you'd get it to work these days tho.

Yes, well. You should have seen what you got on the disk version of the Hobbit. Every so often you got a blooming great PROPER picture. That took about 10 minutes to render. WOOOOOOOooowwww!!!!

My favourite was the dragon. Check out the overall difference between the versions though...
