  • where did my just crucial thread go?

I'm far from being a forum expert - viz, when posting before, I got fed up trying to get back and review what I had posted. I gave up using the site because it didn't work for me - too stressful to negotiate - a technophobe. But today, I had thought i did a good job with my thread:

Banks and building societies - Other (posted at 11.13).

No, I know it is not there, huh just like old times!

when I had clicked submit. I was sent to a page that I am not allowed to view this (or some such jargon).

I then noted my details weren't in the header. When I tried to re-enter these I was re-logged onto the initial page! Grr. definitely lost my data NOW!

i know I might have been slow entering, that is because I wanted to make sure it was all correct. I should have written it out in rough, then copied. Hindsight!

But why log me off?. Before I had finished? Isn't that my prerogative?

From now on I'm going to be anxious you are going to short-change me on time again, after all my efforts!

If you click on your name on the left of the page, it should open a pop up which contains "View Forum Posts" - you can click on that to view all your previous posts, or you can go to your profile ( http://legalbeagles.info/forums/memb...640-andra1cass ) and then click View Latest Posts or View Latest Started Threads on the left hand side bar.

Otherwise all I can think is that you are taking a long time to make your post and your cookies are ending. The time is set currently to 70 minutes from last activity before you are logged out and need to log in again, that should be plenty though.

If it does log you out we do have an autosave drafts - so if you go back to the same forum and create a new thread it should have a little box bottom left of the box you type in that says ' Restore Autosave Draft '.... or sometimes you can click on the back button from the warning notice page and the post should still be there - then highlight it all, copy it and check you are logged in properly before repasting and posting the post.

I'll have a look see if there's a draft floating about in the ether.

If I know I'm going to spend a long time creating a post, I often type it out in a document and then copy/paste into the box on here ... may be a bit of a faff, but it stops me being distracted lol xx

Yep so if you go back to Banks & Building Societies - Others forum now, and click Post NEw Thread, look at the bottom of the typing box and there should be this ...

I've just tested it and all works. It auto saves if you spend more than 3 minutes on a post then go off somewhere else / get logged out - the next time you go to make a new thread in the same forum the draft is still there for 7 days if you click on the Restore button.

Hope that helps in future anyway.
