Hi Wendy,
Tell him to ride carefully, And to ride defensively. There are a lot of idiot car drivers out there who dont observe. And I'm not having a go at car drivers I am one too as well as a biker. Hope he enjoys his new bike. Guide him towards Bikesafe - Motorcycle Rider Safety or Welcome to the IAM!

Oh my... I've seen this on another forum, the bikers blame the car drivers and vice versa.
I'd like to stay firmly on the fence and say there are idiots on both sides. I've seen bikers risking life and limb for the sake of undertaking one car, and I've seen car drivers pull out in front of bikers with no thought for them.

Fortunately my hubby has ridden bikes for years and is a very sensible rider, well I did nearly fall off the back once when he nipped off a bit sharpish without telling me but that was a one off! Oh yes, and then there was the time I nearly got me knee down going round an island...but thats another story. So he made sure Lewis did his part 1, goes out with him and has drummed the safety into him. I've ridden pillion for years, so I know there's some maniacs out there, both on two wheels and four... Son will be doing Part 2 very soon
Hubby has just sold his Busa and now has a Kwak 750 Ninja, I haven't had the delight of going pillion on that yet. I think the older you get, the more danger you see and the more responsible you get, when you're young you think you're immortal!
Am also going to show Lewis a DVD made by a chap I know who's just come back from the TT races - he came off his 600 and the only thing to survive the crash, apart from him with only one bruise! was the camcorder he'd got on the front. Unfortunately the nice policemen peeps have taken a copy which shows him doing 142mph and may be doing him for dangerous driving. If that don't frighten him into sensibility nothing will...
As I said, he's got his head screwed on, not only that, he's paying for the new bike himself so he knows if he prats about and drops it, then he's the one with the bill! He refuses to go in his mates cars cos he says they're all a bunch of nutters so I think he'll be okay......but as a mum you never stop worrying...but you gotta let em go sometime..

It must run in the family....my daughter also has a dangerous hobby....she jumps horses...who whilst not as fast as a bike, have a mind of their own which makes em twice as dangerous. As I found out to my cost on Saturday when I got dumped off into a bonfire, which fortunately wasn't lit! Read the Tequila lounge if you want the full S.P.

Been on the back of a mate's bike, he has a Kwacker XYZ or summat like that (can't remember the sequence of letters), I do know it's not a Ninja, but its big green and powerful
Biggest problem I have is his rapid deceleration which tends to have me nutting him cos I am not expecting to go from 120 to 49 in 2 seconds!

LOL
Him naughty boy, bike does feel very different with a pillion on, takes longer to slow down too, so when yer forget that you end up having to jam the anchers on pretty shapish..... done it myself and been nutted by my (long suffering best friend) pillion a few times LOL.
I ride a Honda VFR800 (also big and powerfull hehe)
