Hmm. I've never really thought about it before, but most marches are only about 40 seconds or so. I've just played a couple on me practice chanter, and right enough, it doesn't take long to play just the one tune. Usually you play them as sets of two, and can play a few sets together. Competitions are different. You can play medleys of tunes (the type of tunes depends on which grade your band is ranked), and from grade3 upwards, also play a set comprising a march, strathspey and reel.

Dunno mate. I'll have a look and see if I have it in any of my music books, and see how long it lasts if I do. But it does seem awfully short. Is it a march, do you know? Sounds like it should be. 2/4 time, I'll bet.

Lugger a serious question. I've downloaded a pipes album for my wife as her late Dad was from Glasgow and her favorite track is Mackenzies Highlanders by The Royal Highland Fuisiliers but it only last 47 seconds. Do you know of this and is that as long as it lasts?
