    OFFICIAL DIY THREAD :carrot::carrot:

Use this thread to list all your unfinished DIY jobs. If you need help or advice ask here.

I have built two houses and have handled most jobs at some time.

But I have a very long list of unfinished jobs.

1/ Redo bathroom floor. The waterfall feature into kitchen has lost its novelty now.
2/ Replace bath tub, which has large chip in it after daughter dropped unknown large heavy metallic object on it......................
    3/ Paint door frames.
4/ Give back door second coat of paint.
5/ Empty downstairs loo of junk and replace syphon in loo...hasn't worked for 9 months...I've had the part for 5 months!
    6/ Repaint front door.
7/ Install a door on the en suite............not crazy about public toilet activity so a door is GOOD
8/ Rehang kitchen cupboard door that the washing machine bashed off during one of its random nutter events. I think it wants to escape.
9/ Paint all woodwork in hall and landing.
10/ Decorate hall and landing grrrrrrrrrr
11/ Build book case and radiator cover in sitting room.

OMG...I'm scaring myself. Still .... making the list is a start.

    Anyone else?

I'll post some pics of the house I built shortly.
"Although scalar fields are Lorentz scalars, they may transform nontrivially under other symmetries, such as flavour or isospin. For example, the pion is invariant under the restricted Lorentz group, but is an isospin triplet (meaning it transforms like a three component vector under the SU(2) isospin symmetry). Furthermore, it picks up a negative phase under parity inversion, so it transforms nontrivially under the full Lorentz group; such particles are called pseudoscalar rather than scalar. Most mesons are pseudoscalar particles." (finally explained to a captivated Celestine by Professor Brian Cox on Wednesday 27th June 2012 )

        Re: DIY Anyone?

dare i say it, but i reckon i am up to date on all my DIY (for once).

But, as usual, the missus is keen for ME to start again, and re-decorate the girls rooms, one in a high school musical theme, and one in a pink fairies theme.

I always swore i wouldnt have two pink rooms in my house, but what say do i have in it? None!

Celestine, I believe you have a young slave who until she reaches 18 cannot just do as she wants. So number 3) and 6) use daughter for!

I see your point there, cet. I am sure it is not an abstract painting required for the door.

I personally wouldn't give a paint brush to nattie, unless it was for dot to dot of course

                    Re: DIY Anyone?

It's not just children (or bankers) that you should not give paintbrushes too.

I had occasion to award three days ROP's (Restriction of Privileges) to a soldier once and one of the subsequent duties he was given was to repaint the barrier and the kerb stones at the entrance to the camp. The barrier was painted with alternate white and red stripes and the kerb stones likewise. He chose to paint the red first and then used the same brush for the white - which of course turned out pink.

The RSM was not best pleased with his new pink and red barrier and kerb stones.

                            Re: DIY Anyone?

I aint posting this to annoy anybody and not even to brag. As you know I have a lot of time on my hands, so I don't have any outstanding DIY to be getting on with. But here is a short list of the DIY jobs I have done in the past few years.

                            1) Built a three room extension.

                            2) Loft conversion consisting of a proper stair way, a double bedroom and ensuite. With means of escape windows lighting and heating.

                            3) rewired the whole house.

                            4) Fitted central heating.

                            5) New bathroom.

                            6) New wooden floors throughout.

                            7) New skirtings throughout.

                            8) Landscaped garden.

                            9) I also made all of the door, tables and bookcases.

Sorry if I sound a smug git, really I'm not. I just have to keep myself busy.
