No he put a very thin layer of undercoat on but I thought he must know what he is doing

To cover a dark colour you would need at least 2 good undercoats did he give a written spec for the work?

Think this so called tradesman is as we used to call them in the trade a tosher probably mixes undercoat and gloss together this we called bumping .
Painting is one of the easiest trades you can either paint or you cant we can draw our own conclusions about this guy.
