I've only read 27 of them. I can't see any more I'd particularly want to read either, but would happily 'unbold' a few I have read. There's loads I'd like to substitute as well.

Good to know the BBC can't count in their top 50 as well! lol

For me it is anything that has words in it. Amongst some of the more memorable authors have been Tom Sharpe, Leslie Thomas, Barbara Taylor Bradford, Catherine Cookson, Dan Brown, Chris Bonington, Hammond Innes etc. Most Travel Guides & Maps but can't get on with sci-fi or westerns.

Agree with Tom Sharpe - hilarious, but the ones about South Africa can be read at either just a humorous level, or you can realise they contain some frightening truths. I prefer the superficial!Like you, sci-fi and westerns are out. For just 'an enjoyable 'throw away' read' I surprised myself by thoroughly enjoying Alan Titchmarsh's books. Most who have had anything to do with education or live in the Yorkshire Dales / have an affinity with Yorkshire folk will enjoy the books of Gervase Phinn.

Ermmm. Oh dear. This is going to sound sad. I haven't read number 96 and have no plans to. In fact, I think there's only about seven books on the list I don't own! Sorry Cel - I may have forgotten to mention.... a gardener, a cleaner, and a library! Couldn't pick a favourite though - there are several on the list I have read more than once.

Just finished "In the time of the butterflies" by Juia Alvarez - I would definitely recommend it. A sad but also uplifting (true) story.

Havent read many on the lst . To be frank I dont seem top get much opportunity to read at the moment . I happen to be a great disc world fan although I agree that mort i one of the weaker books . I enjoyed "a hatful of stars ". I,m currently rereading "goingpostal"
George orells "down and out in paris and lndon" is interesting social commentry . I uite enjoy horn blower , and the jeeves and wooster boooks despite their datedness.

Terry's writing has suffered since he became ill. It still has flashes of inspiration but I was disappointed by Going Postal. Loved Wyrd Sisters - Granny Weatherwax is fab! But my favourite character has to be Death. It just makes me curl up with laughing!

Terry Pratchet is like any other form of humour - you either like it or not. I am one of those people who can watch a comedy and be the only person sitting in total lack of amusement! On the other hand I can utterly annoy by sitting with a TP book and giggle every half a page when nobody else gets the joke!

Adolf Hitler: My Part In His Downfall is a brilliant book. I couldn't stop laughing. Despite being bi-polar, Spike Milligan was a comic genius. I've read most of the Nicholas Rhea books (on which the tv series Heartbeat is based) and Harry Cole's books (Harry is now retired from the Met Police, but his books give a humorous and, sometimes, sobering account of life as a beat copper in London). One I have read recently is The Glory Boys, which is about the Met's SO19 Department, aka SWAT, Firearms Team. I also have a growing library of books by Doreen Virtue, Sonia Choquette and Nancy Garen, as well as a large number of books on Dream Analysis and Interpretation.
Life is a journey on which we all travel, sometimes together, but never alone.

Will nobody admit to reading 50 Shades of Gray?

Mind you, it's not exactly great literature:
