So it seems that the monk was frozen i time and for all eternity whilst on his way to the Loo.(necessarium)

    No wonder he is upset

The figure is that of a monk, Brother Robert, he tells me the date is 1530 and the month of November. He says he can hear the words nessacerium (spelling?) and that he is on his way to service.
I hear steven built me and the place name bolounge.
Furness Abbey was founded by Stephen, Count of Boulogne and Mortain (later King of England, 1135 -1154).
The monk is small and blonde and is pockmarked. Beware of dreams of female devils.
I can see the word Cistercian.
I see jewelery and hiding it, mustn't let it be found.
Could it be this that was recently dug up within the grounds of Furness Abbey http://www.guardian.co.uk/culture/20...medieval-abbot

I want to mention the sea, and I want to ackowlege the north of England.
We're not to far away from the coast here on the Furness Peninsular

Other than that, I cant see anything else.

      Love you sis

      Matt
      xx
whatever it is there's certainly been a lot of debate on the web and locally.
I have found these pics, first one An Abbot ordaining a priest, in the drawing is a silver-gilt crozier which was found earlier this year
This one is a white Monk
      This one a Lay Brother
And finally! This is probably the monk in question Only joking
The photo my wife took is of the Chapter House, maybe someone can find more info

            Correct.

The octagonal building in front is more likely to be the Chapter House.

No! that was the Kitchen, they built it over the stream so they had access to (dare I say it) running water
Here's a plan of the Abbey: I've marked the spot from where the photo was taken from with an "X" and circled the arched window of the photo

It never rains on Matt's world. Human suffering affects him greatly but he uses humor and love of people and goodness (yes I'm a firm believer in Goodness) to try and help. I love him deeply.

Re: Just a bit of fun!

a bit of info: As I said! we're off to Piel Island in the morning for a full day of drinking, BBQ and camping while being dressed up as pirates.
The Islands castle was built by Furness Abbey to protect the Abbey and surrounding area from the Scottish, Irish and pirates, and there we are descending on this remote piece land just off Barrow dressed as pirates. lol
                  Here's a link to Piel Island http://www.golakes.co.uk/places/town...tage.aspx?oo=0

There's plenty of other links on the internet for you to browse through but if you don't want to then here's a couple of pics

I'll take some photo's of the castle and the festivities tomorrow and post them on here when I get back with my hang-over

Re: Just a bit of fun!

Had a great weekend on Piel, took loads of photo's, we even went on a drunken ghost hunt around the castle after midnight but made far to much noise.
Anyway! got back home yesterday lunch time, connected the phone to the PC and started to download all the pics of the weekend.
                      ..................................
cant find them anywhere and they've also been deleted off my phone not happy..
Oh well, got some pics off the others
                      Camp site
                      Piel castle
Part of the castle that's fallen onto the shore

Me preparing the BBQ, I'm the one with the bandanna

Did my bit on the BBQ, so took to drinking and doing folks heads in with my sun glasses the birthday boy is in the middle of the pic with the red bandanna, my wife is on the right hand side of the pic

The Morecombe girls, never a dull moment when they turn up

                      An absolute amazing sun set

                      Taken during our ghost hunt

There's loads more of the night in the pub where it got a bit silly when we decided to do the "spoon of doom" it involve snorting a spirit up both nostrils, didn't do it myself (I'm not that daft)

Re: Just a bit of fun!

Puff was enthralled by the magnificent orange sunsets so well captured by your pics as well, Swifty. Looks like you guys had a helluva good one on Piel.

So - the 'Jack Sparrow' character is the birthday boy, then. Yo-ho-ho, and a bottle o' rum...!!!

As for the lovely blonde on the RH side. I would have made some more ribald comments - had I not been advised previously that she was already spoken for !!! O, Lucky Man, Swifty !!! Cherish and cultivate that which we are blessed with !!!

As regards yellow-tinted specs. Toooo right, ma man. They make everything look SOOO sunny. Ozzy don't know what he's missing. But then again - he's probably tried every shade available.

                        ...and some more :hippie: !!!

The birthday boy (Jack Spanner) was still drunk most of Sunday, he hit the Jager bombs for breakfast.:loco:
He's also known as Frank Galleger, cant imagine why
