  • Anyone planning on joining SKY?

Hello, just wondering if anyone is planning on joining SKY between now and tomorrow (30/11)

I know its a bit short notice, but i just seen an advert, and if i recommend someone and they sign up then we BOTH get a free sky+ box, and oh how that would make my life easier!!

So if you plan on joining in the next 36 hours, send me a PM and we'll sort it out.

Mmmm, would need to get a Bt line installed though wouldn't I?

Its just that we had major internet outage on Tuesday, Virgin insisted it was the month old modem that was goosed (didn't matter that there was no internet signal going to the set top box either!), so an engineer was supposed to be here between 12 and 4 yesterday afternoon........ I'm still waiting.

Meanwhile there is supposed to be an engineer going to his house tomorrow morning, and he has just told me to phone them and tell them that if that engineer fails to turn up, he is cancelling both contracts with them.

But I think this may be cutting it a bit fine, I'll ask him later

Re: Anyone planning on joining SKY?

I signed up online, and ordered my BT line (online) at the same time, think it took the same amount of time to get them installed. I sent off the 30 day notice letters at the same time and eveything woked out.
Only thing is make sure your not tied up in a 12 month contract or anything as this may prove costly to get out of!

Sorry, we've already got skyplus and the extra box is in our bedroom. Both the kids have freeview in their rooms.

                            What do you mean wendy?

Ive got sky boadband, and with the 16mb package i average 11.5Mb, which is good enough for me lol

fair enough, it can slow down between 6-9pm, but that doesnt really affect me.

Would be interested to hear of you problem with it, in case anything crops up in the future :okay:

Re: Anyone planning on joining SKY?

Thats the package I had, sky max, including sky talk as well. Used to get about 5 megs, which was okay. When my Bt line got accidentally disconnected, never managed to get broadband back, this went on for months with no internet at home, sky were absolutley crap, never did anything by when they were supposed to do it, in the end they let me cancel before the contract was ended at no extra cost because they admitted they had no idea why their stop starts weren't working, only to say that they'd got two systems which weren't compatible with each other between departments and said I'd be better off going to a new provider as they had no idea when they could get me reconnected again!
Even with all tags wiped off my line they still couldn't sort it. To be fair, their people are always very nice, but there's only so many days of my life I want to spend on hold for their 0870 number, and that didn't get the broadband access going any quicker.. It was a combination of BT (I'll keep my thoughts about BT to myself) and Sky really, with both as bad as each other. Am now with Tiscali for line rental and broadband, have dumped BT forever, and just got tv package with Sky.
Please, don't tell me Tiscali is rubbish. Was with them before and never had any problems.
