The 4.15 Aintree Full Race Card - 14 April 2012 | Racing Post

Currently these are the 82 entries into this year's Grand National. Those numbers will wittle down to the final 40 places for race day in April.

    Current odds:

    Junior 14-1
    Ballabriggs 16-1
    West End rocker 16-1
    Prince de Beauchaine 16-1

My very very very early tip is: Synchronised 20-1

Some horses to watch for this year based on the fact that it is the Queen's 60 year since her coronation:

    State Of Play 33-1
    Mon Mome 40-1
    Postmaster 40-1
    King Fontaine 66-1

The Queen's own horses have never won the Grand National.

Seabass is getting some good press so I think you're right it might be worth a pop at this stage especially at 33's

I neither bet on it, watch the race nor read about it, its the cruelest of races. I've been to Aintree and am totally convinced that no animal would want to voluntarily jump over those fences.

Sorry if that offences any of you.

Kauto Star v. Long run will be a fantastic race, I suspect that Long run will get revenge as I am not sure of betting on a horse just coming back from injury albeit, it is Kauto Star.

EDIT: we're now down to 77 runners from the original 82 entries.

Having edited the post to state 77 runners. I already know that Niche Market is out of the race and retired due to injury so it's 76 runners.

Imperial commander running in the national?

Defo not running in the Cheltenham Gold Cup

The above is that card which does include one of my picks for the national "synchronised". Grands Crus might be the only runner that could make it a race with kauto and Long Run.

I agree Sapphy. Trainers and jocks expoliting a horses natural instinct for flight to safety. Four horses died at Cheltenham today

Sorry if it offends none meant x

I've never bet on a horse, myself - but I really thought they enjoyed the race, Monz. So - four of those magnificent critters died at Cheltenham today ?

And they died in fear ?

This is akin to fox-hunting, then, surely ?

I was blissfully ignorant until your post. Maybe others were, too.

Montzer it was 3 horses that died, prior to those fatalaties, only 1 horse had died since 2000.

The fatalities were: ScotsIrish, Garde Charpatre(I did bet on this horse to win), and Educated Evans.

There are more injuries to jockeys in races these days than to the horse themselves. Furthermore the use of the whip is continually reviewed by the Jockey Club each year. For example, one jockey has received a ban for excessive use of the whip yesterday.
